US #5, UK #17 for Julio Iglesias & Willie Nelson in 1984
Hal David (co-writer): Albert was a terrific guy to work with. He was recording for Columbia at the time, and somebody asked me if I would do an album writing the songs with him. Albert just played me a whole bunch of melodies, all of them very good, and I picked out the ones that felt good to me. I sat down and wrote ten or twelve songs over a period of time, then he went in and recorded. 99 miles(Copyright ?1997 by The Society of Composers & Lyricists)
Julio Iglesias (recording artist): I was looking for songs, preparing to record what would become the "1100 Bel Air Place" album with Richard Perry and Albert Hammond. Albert had written the song with Hal David, and I instantly liked the melody. The lyrics I didn?t really understand at first because my English was so very, very bad then. Willie recorded his part, and then he found I couldn't speak a word to him. He said "this guy doesn't speak English". He was so funny about it. To all the girls I've loved before is so funny, and it gets inside your head. Without a doubt, this was the hit that allowed me to still sing in English to this day. To all the girls I've loved before was a miracle and still one of the most popular songs on the jukebox. (Julio Iglesias? official website)
The same melody was used for Du bist nicht mehr wie sonst zu mir and A toda las chicas que yo ame (To all the girls I've loved before is the original).

To all the girls I?ve loved before
Who travelled in and out my door
I?m glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I?ve loved before
To all the girls I once caressed
And may I say I?ve held the best
For helping me to grow
I owe a lot I know
To all the girls I?ve loved before
The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away
To all the girls I?ve loved before
Who travelled in and out my door
I?m glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I?ve loved before
The winds of change are always blowing
And every time I try to stay
The winds of change continue blowing
And they just carry me away
To all the girls I?ve loved before
Who travelled in and out my door
I?m glad they came along
I dedicate this song
To all the girls I?ve loved before
